The city was built during the rapid growth of the Soviet mining industry. It was built specifically for the miners who mined uranium and coal here. But after the collapse of the Soviet Union, some parts of the city were completely abandoned. After the 2010s, people began to re-appropriate these abandoned cities and populate them, but there are still a couple of buildings that have preserved the spirit of the past.
We will visit the – abandoned amusement park – Yangiabad miners’ city, which was built during the Cold War and the city still resembles the atmosphere of the 60-70s.
– Furthermore, the it considered a huge collection of mosaics among the cities of ex. Soviet Union where you can find huge collections of architectural mosaics, from Gagarin to the Moscow Olympics. One of the best examples of Soviet Modernism.
– Visit Tchaikovsky monument
– City cultural center (sometimes may be closed), place where you can find the atmosphere of a meetings once held by communists.
